OBJECTIVE

The objective of this webinar (30-minute presentation / 15-minute Q&A) is to demonstrate how SGS Digicomply can support vulnerability assessments. We will show you how it can provide historical data to support your work while also alerting you to signals from the supply chain that may trigger new threats.

AGENDA

  • Background to food fraud management systems
  • Vulnerability assessment:
    • Characterizing the risks
    • Establishing routines to monitor signals that trigger new threats
  • Q&A

BACKGROUND

Food fraud encompasses a wide range of deliberate acts. Most commons among these are:
  • The addition of non-authentic substances
  • The removal or replacement of authentic substances without the purchaser’s knowledge
The driving force behind these acts is usually economic gain. Certification schemes such as BRC, require operators to have processes in place for accessing information on historical and developing threats to their supply chain, such as threats which may present a risk of adulteration or substitution of raw materials. Knowing your materials, ingredients and their associated risks is an essential part of the vulnerability assessment. However, collecting this information can be extremely time consuming – sources are quite disparate and may include trade associations, governments, media and trade associations. SGS Digicomply aggregates all these sources into a single platform and transforms their data into actionable knowledge. Moreover, as this is not a one-off job – you need to continuously evaluate impact of changes – it is essential to maintain a regular watch on all the above mentioned sources to ensure the earliest possible warning of potential new threats, or a change in the priority of existing threats.
