Objective

The objective of this webinar (50-minute presentation / 10-minute Q&A) is to provide an overview of the impact of COVID-19 upon the food industry and how to manage food safety risks during the pandemic and into the recovery period. Background

The COVID-19 health crisis has impacted all sectors of the food industry, most notably the restaurant and food service sector in addition to manufacturers, suppliers and retailers. As restrictions in countries start to be eased, businesses may need to re-evaluate their environmental monitoring and testing procedures, including provisions for periods of closure and reopening. Food operators need to adopt best practices for monitoring activities, cleaning and sanitation procedures, employee hygiene and welfare, and maintaining business continuity. Franck Pandiani - SGS Global Business Manager Food Molecular Biology

Based in France, Franck Pandiani is the Global Manager for SGS Food Molecular Biology. He has worked in the field of consumer safety for over 10 years. He has a PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular Microbiology from Université d'Avignon et des Pays de Vaucluse and a Master 2 in Biochemistry-Nutrition & Food Safety from the Université Paul Cézanne (Aix-Marseille III).

Evangelia Komitopoulou - SGS Global Customized Solutions Manager, Food Safety & Quality

Evangelia is responsible for leading the development of customized food safety and quality solutions within SGS, providing all the necessary food safety and quality technical support to the global network of certification and auditor teams. A food microbiologist by background, Evangelia is responsible for designing and deploying new global services and solutions across the SGS global network and working with industry to tailor those services to meet individual requirements. With a career which includes over 15 years spent in food safety technical consultancy, trouble-shooting and contract applied research and development, Evangelia is also the author and editor of many technical reports and articles.

Zeb Blanton - SGS Global Food Technical Manager

Zeb is the Global Technical Manager for the SGS Global Food Team. Currently he oversees the technical management, global training for auditors and the auditor performance for several global accounts in the 2nd party audit schemes. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree, his combined government and industry experience in the food business that spans 40+ years. He has served on the technical committees for several state, national and international organizations including professional associations and GFSI programs.

Jeremy Chamberlain - SGS Global Food Certification Manager

Jeremy is the Global Food Certification Director, ensuring all GFSI based scheme audits are undertaken to a consistently high standard. He has conducted audits and training across the globe. Previous to this he held several Senior Technical Manager positions and is therefore able to understand how the requirements can be effectively implemented.
