This webinar presented by SGS, explores the current practice of third-party certification as one method of providing assurance to consumers on the sustainability of seafood. However, with a relatively low percentage of small-scale produced farmed seafood certified to third-party accredited standards, there is a need to develop other models and methods of providing assurances to consumers on the responsible production of seafood.

The Partnership Assurance Model is one such example, using an area-based approach as well as technology in the assessment process to give recognition and market access to small-scale producers.

Objective

This webinar is a 45-minute presentation with a 15-minute Q&A. It will explore certification as one form of assurance and cover other forms of assurance that are more fit-for-purpose and can give small-scale producers market access with the ability to demonstrate their sustainable production practices.

Agenda

  • Introduction to seafood certification programs as a method of assurance
  • Different assurance models and programs – Partnership Assurance Model (PAM)
  • Technology and the assurance/inspection process
  • Conclusion
  • Q&A

Audience

This webinar is aimed at all producers of farmed seafood, ENGOs, government organizations, retailers, buyers, food service providers and the wider seafood stakeholder community. It is also aimed at those interested in responsible production of seafood and being able to demonstrate it at a reasonable cost.
