Course Overview

The seminar discusses what is a textile and how are fabrics tested. From the raw fibres and yarns the course investigates how they are processed to become a fabric and processed to include application of colour and finishing processes to ensure the fabric is stable and colour fast.

We investigate how textile products and materials are evaluated by testing, giving an insight in to the most common tests available and qualifies this by explaining ‘Why’ we test, ‘When’ we test and ‘What’ we test. Finally how cloth is specified, the systems of specification and methods of measurement are described.

We encourage delegates to bring samples along for discussion during the day; this always introduces a level of spontaneity and makes the seminar much more interesting.
