Course Overview

Product safety is a keystone in consumer protection, more and more countries around the world have realised that too many products find their way on to the market without basic safety rules being adhered to. The European Union has had such legislation in place since the 1990s, but too few realise that this is not something which requires cursory lip service but an area that needs careful thought. The penalties for non compliance are often punitive and public the cost of bad publicity is always high.

This course will give a comprehensive insight in to the mechanics of the directive and how this is transposed in to legislation. A look at the RAPEX web site will highlight some of the more common pitfalls awaiting unwary vendors and importers. We will also give some pointers to where you might go for more information and keep abreast of changes in legislation.

Delegates are encouraged to bring along their own samples for open discussion.

This course is especially suited to designers, buyers and textile technologists.
