Evangelia Komitopoulou - SGS Global Technical Manager – Food
Dr. Evangelia Komitopoulou is the Global Technical Manager for Food at SGS. She is responsible for providing technical support to the global network of certification and auditor teams and is the Product Manager for SGS Gluten-Free Certification Services. Evangelia is an expert food microbiologist with specific areas of experience in microbiological risk assessment and specifications, food processing and preservation. Evangelia is recognised for her involvement in the development and validation of microbial detection and antimicrobial assay methodologies as well as the identification and evaluation of novel and natural antimicrobial systems in food preservation. With a career which includes over 10 years spent in food technical consultancy, trouble-shooting and contract applied research and development, Evangelia is also the author and editor of many technical reports and articles.
Neil Milvain - SGS Global Product Manager – Packaging
Neil has background in manufacturing and retail. Qualified as a polymer technologist Neil has worked with design and specification of packaging materials and print for some of the largest high street retailers. Neil has been with SGS for 5 years, initially as an auditor/trainer/reviewer for BRC non-food standards and now as the Global Product Manager for Packaging. Neil is now responsible for all the GFSI approved packaging standards offered by SGS as well as improving and maintaining the competencies of the audit teams responsible for providing these services. Neil also works closely with the commercial teams in SGS developing bespoke standards and protocols to meet their specific demands.
