SGS TO HOST LIVE WEBINAR ON THE NEW EU TIMBER REGULATIONS
SGS is set to run a complimentary webinar ‘What You Need to Know – European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR)’ on 22 May 2012.
The EUTR (EU 995/2010) will come into force in March 2013. The 45-minute webinar from SGS will inform you of key points and recent developments of the Regulation and will help you to understand the likely impact on your day-to-day activities.
The Regulation applies across all 27 European Union Member States and sets out mandatory obligations for organisations and individuals that place timber and timber products on the European Market.
This includes products that are harvested in non-European Union countries and imported into the EU and those harvested inside the EU and placed on the market for the first time. Those trading timber and wood products within the EU must put in place procedures in order to minimise the risk of illegal timber being sold.
SGS’ webinar will be delivered by Tobin Gordon, who has twelve years experience in auditing Chain of Custody (CoC) systems and managing CoC programs. The on-line event will close with a Q&A session where participants will have the opportunity to communicate and clarify points with SGS’ team of experts.
Participants will also receive a complimentary white paper which discusses the impacts, opportunities and challenges arising from the European Union Timber Regulation.
