Asbestos audits and policy reviews from SGS – ensure safety and comply with regulations by maintaining an effective asbestos management plan.

If you own, manage or control a non-domestic building, UK regulations state that you must have an asbestos management policy and carry out an assessment to identify risk from asbestos. We will review your existing arrangements or help you to design and implement a new policy, so you can be sure that you have minimised asbestos risk and are compliant with relevant standards.

Why Choose Asbestos Audits and Policy Reviews From SGS?

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, and CAR2006 before them, place very specific duties on those who own, manage or control non-domestic premises and by inference, domestic premises where work is being carried out to manage the risks arising from asbestos containing materials (ACMs).

Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-Domestic Premises, states that you must have a policy for asbestos management. This policy must include carrying out an assessment to identify and assess asbestos risk. If asbestos is identified, then you must have a written plan to manage ACMs and ensure that they remain in good condition. You must provide, and regularly refresh, information and training about ACMs to workers who may disturb the asbestos. Finally, you must regularly review the effectiveness of all of these measures.

If the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) finds that you do not fully comply with these requirements, you are liable for prosecution. You may receive a custodial sentence if serious deficiencies are identified.

We can ensure that your asbestos policies comply with regulations. Our British Occupational Society (BOHS) certified consultants will independently audit and review your existing policies, rectifying any problem before it creates a risk to your organisation and places you in danger of non-compliance. Our consultants will prepare new documentation and systems as needed. If necessary, they will implement new policy, procedures and a new management plan from scratch.
